Lashes Defined

Let me introduce you to my new makeup obsession – Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara.  I’m very particular when it comes to mascara and I’ve been trying out a few different brands lately to find one that I truly love.  I just happened to be browsing in Sephora over the weekend and purchased this mascara on a whim.  While I’ve been using the BareEscentuals foundation for years, I recently started trying out some of their other products and I couldn’t be happier.  This mascara has the ability to precisely define each individual lash while giving all the eyelashes a natural lift.  I can happily say that my quest for the perfect mascara has officially ended.

The Comforts of Home

We had another sister rendezvous this week – on Thursday we met up on the West Coast and enjoyed a quick weekend trip to Northern Nevada.  Together with our mom, we took a leisurely drive around Lake Tahoe.  Early Fall is one of the best times to visit Tahoe because with the changing of seasons, many of the tourists have headed home and there is a calm, peaceful feeling in the air.  While it was unseasonably warm during our visit this weekend, we still caught a glimpse of some fall colors gracing us with their presence.
In our home cities, it isn't often that we see wildlife casually roaming the streets and wake up to find them peering in through our back door looking for handouts.  Suprisingly, this happens quite frequently when we are staying at our mom's house. This weekend was even more special when two fawns and their momma does stopped by to play in the yard and take a quiet afternoon nap under the butterfly bushes.  It is moments like these when you realize that one should slow down and enjoy the little things in life.
If you ever find yourself driving through the Washoe Valley between Reno and Carson City, take time to stop at the Chocolate Nugget.  There you will find an assortment of candy including fudge, peanut brittle and salt water taffy.  With the sweeping variety of taffy, it's hard to walk away without adding at least one of each flavor to your bag.  Jeanne's husband, Keith, has a sweet tooth and taffy is one of his favorites...she walked away with a 1 lb. bag.

Necklace Flair

I've been quite selective when it comes to the chunky necklace trend, but I must say the purchases I have made are surely adding a little pop to my wardrobe.  Here’s a necklace that I recently ordered from Madewell.  While it comes in three different colors, I chose the more subtle Transparent Pink.  I recommend placing your order sooner rather than later as the sale price of this necklace is quite enticing.

A Whirlwind Weekend

Wow! This past weekend was crazy-three cities in four days.  Our first stop was our Nation’s Capital where we visited some national monuments and memorials, enjoyed yummy cupcakes and did a little shopping.

Georgetown Cupcakes
Washington, DC
On Friday we took the train up to NYC to visit Patrick, our younger brother.  From the Upper West Side to Canal Street, we covered a lot of ground.  Patrick sure did show us a good time!

Rooftop view from Patrick's apartment
New York City, NY
Then on Saturday we headed down to Philadelphia where we did some sightseeing and enjoyed the most delicious cheesesteaks.  We stayed at the Hotel Palomar in the Center City part of town-great location and very chic decor.  If you ever find yourself in search of a good restaurant while in Philadelphia, check out Buddakan.  The food is absolutely amazing!

Geno's Steaks

We were on such a tight schedule due to our jam-packed itinerary.  Thanks to Amtrak and our determination to do it all, we checked off every item on our To Do list. Go us…high five!

A Wardrobe Essential

I’m always on a quest to find the perfect dress for work.  Thanks to Ann, I recently came across this black knit dress. It’s stylish, sophisticated and so comfy.  And since it’s such a great find, I just had to buy it in two colors (I highly recommend the Port color too)!

Planes, Trains and National Parks

As I start packing for my trip out east, there are a couple essential items that I can’t forget to pack. First, my National Parks Passport Book (Ann and I are borderline obsessed with these books). We will be visiting three cities in four days (Washington DC, New York City, Philadelphia) and hitting up some National Parks is definitely on our To Do list.
Second, I can’t forget my Zion National Park hat. Ann and I promised each other that we would always pose for at least one picture in front of the entrance sign to any National Park we visit with these hats on.
